Dad got a call from the nurse at Alterra this afternoon. She suggests that hospice be called in for Beppe as she is failing rapidly, hopice assists those who are given 6 months or less to live. She is showing lots of signs of being in the final stages of life. Several years ago the family signed a form: do not resisatate and no feeding tube. So none of that will be happening.
Dad will call Bob and Annie tonight to discuss if they want hospice involved or not. I think that hospice monitors the vitals, help to make the patient more comfortable if pain meds are needed, and to prepare the family for the upcoming death.
