Well, now that my summer school is officially over, I was planning on filling my next two weeks with a whole lot of nothingness. So far, the days have continued to be very eventful and busy and fun! After softball practice Friday night, we loaded Dutch up and went to Florala to visit Derek's parents and to check the progress of their house. It looks like they should almost be finished with it by the time we get back from Idaho. The sheetrock is already up and the brick and flooring is coming next. They are very excited.
Earlier this week (or maybe it was last week) we had an escapade with Dutch and our lamp. Dutch was sitting with Derek in our room during a thunderstorm and there was a loud thunderclap that Dutch mistook to be a knock at the door. He went tearing out of the bedroom only to get on the hardwood floors and couldn't slow down to turn the corner. He slammed into the lamp (which held a glass jar full of glass ornanaments) which proceeded to topple over on top of Dutch. He was then so scared and shook up that he jumped over the couch to get back into the bedroom and put his head under the bed (where of course he was hidden from the wrath of Derek) Don't worry though, he didn't get in trouble cause it wasn't his fault he wasn't born with grippers on his feet.... we do have dents in our laminate flooring that we have no idea what to do with....
On Saturday, after we got back from Florala, it was a frantic search for costumes for our murder mystery dinner. While I baked a caramel pecan pie and an apple pie, Derek went to the thrift stores and found himself a pair of small womens overalls which fit perfectly....(not quite) for his farmer costume and we had a last minute stop at one of the shops in the mall for a corset for me for my can-can girl costume. I was Fifi Amoury, a can-can girl, and Derek was Frank Reyes, a land owner and we went to the party to find out who-dun-it. Luckily, neither of us turned out to be the murderer/ess. It ended up being the dead guys daughter.....Such a shame ;)
Here is a picture of Derek with the rest of the farmer's present. The picture of the other can-can girls and myself didn't turn out quite as well. After the busy Saturday, we went to church and the went to Foley, AL (about 45 minutes away) to eat at Lambert's Cafe - Home of the throwed rolls. Some of the best southern cooking around and a really fun place to eat. It was our friends birthday so we had a good reason to go. For those of you visiting in December, we'll probably make it out there with ya'll again :)
The on Sunday afternoon, we lazed around and watched movies with Dutch. He enjoyed having his people around that is for sure.
All in all it was a good weekend, but as for this week, I am ready to get some cleaning done and some long put off projects that I have been thinking about. That is the news from down south. The position we have been waiting on for Derek will post on Wednesday, so after that, we may have some more definate answers for everyone. We'll be sure to let you know when we know anything!!!
love you all
Sharon
